Association Between Biomarkers of Chronic Stress and Cognition in Latinos

What is the purpose of this study?

To investigate the impact of chronic stress on brain function in Hispanics.

Who is a qualifying participant?

  • Anyone age 18 or older.
  • Self-identified Hispanic and non-Hispanic individuals with normal cognition.
  • Enrolled in the Mayo Clinic ADRC.

What are we asking of you in this study?

In addition to completing all ADRC procedures, small clippings from your hair and fingernails will be collected to measure the amount of cortisol present in the samples. Cortisol is a hormone that increases during periods of stress and accumulates in the hair and nails over time.
